Obama’s Smooth Talk Can’t Hide Spending, Debt

One of President Obama’s stated goals is the creation of 3 million to 4 million jobs, 80 percent of which are expected to magically appear in the private sector. The resulting 20 percent, or a minimum of 600,000 jobs, will be added to an already ineffectual and bloated government.

We shouldn’t be surprised at this behavior by our politicians, for they never would have risen to the to the top of their party hierarchies without agreeing to support the status quo. After all, redistribution is what government does best.

This leads to some fundamental questions: Why do the riders of the Downeaster rely on fellow taxpayers to subsidize their transportation? Why don’t they pay their own way?

Riders of the train might answer that the fares would then be too expensive. But don’t they realize that by not paying enough to cover the cost of their ride, they are increasing the transportation costs of those forced to subsidize the service?
